Its main deposits are in Australia, Brazil, India and Sri Lanka.

Its name

It is popularly known as moonstone, but there are those who also call it adularia.

It receives the name of moonstone, since its whitish color and its bluish reflections remind of those of the lunar surface.

Moonstone is considered the stone of femininity and this is because lunar cycles are associated with the cycles and stages of a woman's life: childhood, puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and menopause.
